Epic. Amazing. Dream come true. Unexpected. Incredible. Surreal.

These are some of the words that ran through my head as I woke up this morning and found my solar eclipse photographs featured on National Geographic.

I thought I was still dreaming. But there they are, my photos, featured on at least four different NatGeo sites: America, Australia, Japan and Europe! Thanks to photo agencies Demotix and Corbis, my images were sent to news agencies around the world, and even though so far only one publication has bought them, it is the publication that inspired me to become a photographer in the first place.

And a special thanks to Tommy Cuellar, L.A. photographer and good friend of mine, who convinced me I had taken front-page newsworthy photographs. (OK this is starting to sound like an Oscars speech – I’ll shut up now). But truly, I am so grateful for everyone and everything that have helped make this happen. So thank you!

Congrats Maria! That is just fantastic! So now that you know what calibre your work is it's time to take the planet by storm, by eclipse and by kid in the welder's mask! I just love that one - the images themselves have a surrealism that seemed to match the experience. We're very happy for you back here on a cold drumlin in guelph. Badger escaped again this morning; starting to exhibit Husky Houdini tendencies - neighbour tied him up for us. Saw your International debut - must be time for a midday mixer!
