Kuranda Butterfly Sanctuary is one of Cairns’ most loved attractions to tourists and local butterfly lovers, and for obvious reasons. It’s home to over 2000 magnificent tropical butterflies and moths and a place where you can get up close and interact with these beautiful winged creatures.

It’s not typically known as a wedding ceremony venue but perhaps it should be. When Louise and Derek quietly tied the knot there this year while on holiday with their sons, I got to be a part of their whimsical and intimate elopement. We basically spent 2 hours chasing butterflies! They absolutely loved Louise and took turns landing on her.

And to top off the magical wedding ceremony, the family celebrated with an Alice in Wonderland themed party in the garden.
