Sam & Justin {Mission Beach Wedding Photography}
I loved this day. Simple, small, non-traditional weddings that are full of heart. My favourite kind of weddings.
Castaways Mission Beach Resort was 2 hours away from my home but I was happy to take a long, scenic drive to meet Sam and her beau. Just over a few email messages but we clicked and I was really looking forward to photographing her secret wedding.
Mission Beach was pretty even on a rainy day. In the end it never rained, and the two got married in the one of the most emotional ceremonies I got to witness, in front of only their immediate families, and with their little bub inside Sam’s belly. (That boy’s going to be so good looking by the way — just look at his parents!)
When you edit a wedding weeks after it happens and the moments you managed to capture still make you tear up, you know you’ve captured something real. I loved that I got to watch every family member react to the story of how they fell in love that the celebrant retold, and the tears that fell as the vows were exchanged.
After the ceremony we went for a drive to find some countryside around Bingil Bay. I’ll never forget the little things that Justin did for Sam. He’d pick her up and piggy back her over long grass, lift up her dress so it wouldn’t get torn from prickly weeds, admire her beauty from a distance as she stood for portraits with so much love in his eyes, brush the hair out of her face whenever the wind played up, make her laugh by letting go of his shyness and acting completely silly in front of the camera…
Thank you again Justin and Sam for inviting me to join your beautiful family in celebrating your marriage. It was a perfect day. xoxoxo
