Catherine & Renato | Canada Wedding Photography | Caroline Cellars Winery, Niagara
I travelled 15,000km to shoot this wedding. It took me 32 hours, 5 airports and 4 planes to get there, and I pulled a stunt and took my 2 and 1/2 year-old with me. Let me just say, it was an epic journey, but I couldn’t have asked for a better travel partner. But that’s another story for another day.
Cat and Reny, as I know them, are old friends from Canada. It was a mutual favour. Cat flew me home. I shot her wedding. She got to have me at her wedding. I got to go home and see my family and friends for the first time in 4 years. We all won.
It was an exquisitely detailed wedding. The rings were made from platinum on the outside and gold on the inside, and instead of simple engravings of the wedding date they imprinted their fingerprints. The flowers were breathtaking. All the bridesmaids had gorgeous gold dresses and flawless makeup. Cat and Reny went through quite a bit of trouble to have their reception at their favourite vineyard at Niagara-on-the-lake. Caroline Cellars sits in the middle of wine country situated just before you reach the famous Niagara Falls. The all-timber building was a dream to photograph. Each table was named after a wine. All the guests got to take home cute little jars of gourmet jam made locally. I could go on but it would take forever. In short, they put a lot of time and care in personalising their wedding and making it as pretty as possible, but they were so organised about it you wouldn’t guess they’d put in any effort at all.
And as a bonus, I got to party with a bunch of mutual friends I hadn’t seen in years.
Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy these photos. Make sure you check out the photoshoot at the vineyard. I have so many favourites from this shoot, but My favourite is the ladder shot. You can’t miss it.
I’ve got to thank Cat and Reny for asking me to photograph their special day, and thanks to their original photographer for cancelling on them because it was fate I got to shoot their wedding and come home after all these years. Congratulations you two. Wishing you many years of love and happiness. xo
